Good, but not great

This is probably the fifth San Martin watch I've bought. The others were very, very, good and extremely good values for the money. Unfortunately, this watch is very disappointing. The case finish is very nice. the dial is very legible and looks exactly like the photos on the website. The downfall for me is the crown. It is the roughest operating crown I've had an a San Martin. In fact it's the worst I've experienced on a watch for a very long time. I'm not sure whether the issue is with the crown threads themselves, or the stem tube. Regardless, the crown is very difficult to engage. One needs to be very, very careful with the crown because it feels as if it will cross-thread or not seat properly every time you set the time or manually wind it. This is not what I expected from San Martin! I have been extremely satisfied with every other SM watch I've purchased. This one, for almost $200 USD, just isn't the value for the money that has made SM a great place to buy watches.

Good

Would have been 5 stars if it was closer to $150. Crown threads are a bit rough. Still good watch though.

Could be better

Well made but could be better if it had Titanium case back and strap buckle. Would also be better with San Martin on dial and crown. A deep green version would be nice.

Fantastic well made quality watch

Quality throughout this watch, perfect dimensions, perfect visible dial, keeping great time with 5 sec to NIST website. Screw down crown is a nice plus as it enhances the water resistance and screw down crowns are not normally found on pilots watches. Great idea on stainless steel case back should movement need service and titanium being very strong but scratches easily. As a 30 year watch forum member I can say this watch for the money is a real gem.
